Battery polarity

How can I test for battery polarity. I have a converted TEA-20. Before I put the alternator on I was using this as a positive ground 12 volt, no charging at all. When the battery went low I just charged it up again.

I'm having some ignition trouble and I'm wondering if this may be the problem because now I'm using the same battery in a negative ground configuration with an alternator.

Any help is appreciated.

If you reversed the polarity of the tractor, you then need to reverse the polarity of the coil.
Reverse the two leads to the coil. I keeps the spark at the spark plug going in the direction that fires best.
Good luck.
