How can you trace a tractors original place of purchase and manufacture? Have 1944 H and 1946 McCormick-Deering W-9, and would like to find out the history of where they were first purchased. Thanks for your help.

Can anyone advise where a 1948 Super A would have been manufactured at and also a 1950 Model C?
Thanks,
Dale

Your H was made at the FARMALL PLANT in Rock Island, IL. and the W-9 was made at the IHC Tractor Works in Milwaukee, WI.

I was lucky and got the original owner's manual with my 504 that had the dealer's name, purchaser's name and tractor that was traded in on it. This was January of 1964 and a 1960 340 diesel was traded in on it, the dealership was down on State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas and they closed up MANY years ago, like in the late 60's. Very interesting info. Dad has ALL the owner's manuals to everything he has bought since the early 60's with this same information. To me they are priceless, part of my heritage.

As far as I know, IH did not keep any records of where tractors were sent to from the factory.

They did keep records but they have been destroyed. The way I heard it was that some corporate lawyer suggested it for liability reasons.
