IH rear main seal leak? IH 444

I have an international 444, gas. Just replaced hydraulic pump, after it pumped the crankcase full of Hydro fluid. Now, I have an engine oil leak, from the back of the engine. Hard to tell if oil is coming from the oil pan gasket, or rear main. Never had this tractor apart, so not super familiar. I attempted to snug rear pan bolts, and middle one is stripped. What are the chances it's an oil pan gasket vs rear main? If rms, assuming this would involve splitting the tractor? Thanks for helping

The pan will leak on the floor if it was leaking at a gasket or out the plug. If the oil got to high or full it can leak out the Main seal from either side the transmission seal or the engine rear main seal. If that tractor has the hydraulic pump fastened to the timing gears it could put oil in the engine. If the pump is transmission mounted like I think it is then there is not transmission oil getting into the engine from the pump replacement. IT sounds like you should look at the coolant level to see if it has changed. OR before you run the engine any loosen the drain plug and see if it is antifreeze that comes out into a jar or oil. Loosen is the key word not remove. The fuel pump if it has one could also be a leaking diaphragm causing your oil level to rise. Need to smell the oil or check the gas also for being lower than before.

Right after I had my 2424 split to fix the starter ring gear and new clutch, I got a bad leak at the back of the engine. Turned out to simply be the valve cover gasket. Weird timing, but it was easy for me to fix.

Definitely not coolant or fuel. However, I did pull the transmission plug on the side today, which is where the "filled" level should be. And drained 7 gallons of fluid out of it. Yes, 7 gallons over full. Not sure where this all came from, as I've only owned the tractor for a year, and honestly never checked the transmission fluid level. Very concerning

Did you drain the excess fluid via the level plug or the
drain plug? If you drained it via the level plug you may
want to crack the drain plug loose and see if theres any
water there.

The ABSOLUTE best way to find a leak is to pressure wash it first, run it to operating temperature, and
most likely at high rpm. NEVER guess. Mark.
