I've been reading the big spring on the rod going to the rear of a tractor with hydraulics like a Cub is used as an assist to help raise an implement. My Cub struggles to lift a woods mower I have and the spring isn't doing anything so I'm thinking it needs to be adjusted but none of the manuals I have talks about doing that. Is it as simple as adjusting it until the implement raises without a problem or is there more too it than that.

There isn't a whole lot to adjusting it. Just turn the nut to compress the spring more.
