Looks good for its age. Please us know when you get it running. Any idea how many years since it last ran?

Possibly about 10 years. I am quite impressed with it. The
hr. Meter shows 1944 hrs. Cant see any signs that the
head has been off. Track chains have wear and pads but I
sure have saw a lot worst. Sprockets look pretty decent.
Dont appear to be abused too much. Need to change all
oils and see if it will start. Has the little pony engine. Be a
big project.

i have a wood heater in the shop . its ok on the warmer days. was thinking to get this in it , i will need it running to push snow.

It may not take too much to get it started if the engine turns over, hopefully the pup motor cooperates. It could take more time to tinker if the steering clutches don't comply to 'the program' for this snow season.

Pull the plugs under the final drives and let the water drain out along with any oil in there. Probably want to put a pan under it in the shop. Those 2 cups beside the hydraulic pump are the oil supply for the final drives in it. There is another similar on the injection pump. On the pump it has a hex cap like. injection pump for the oil to it. the Oil filter is 2 brass screens that you wash out and put back in again. The over flow to the injectors just drips on the ground you will see the tube on the back of the block down to the bottom of the engine. At the price of fuel these days I would want to route it back to the tank to save it. It is not a lot just a dribble but a dribble adds up over time. To adjust the clutch if I remember right is on the left side behind the track kind of a paint to get to and then you need the cover on top off so you can see it work for the adjustment. Been 40 years since I was around when dad and grandpa did our D-4. It is a 4G8 just a few years older than yours. Yours is the narrow gauge model. I would mount that pump on the front so you have live hydraulics on it. As it is it will stop when you disengage the clutch. Look for rust in the fuel tank. To see much you will need to pull the screen that goes all the way to the bottom out. Little engine can be a pain about flooding when starting. We always shut the gas off at the tank and let it run out of gas each starting on it. Do you have the wrenches for the tractor in the tool box? There were several for maintenance in them when new. There is a funny looking one with a tee handle on top for opening the bleeder on the injectors and pump. It has a like flat sort of like the tool for releasing a pit less adapter on a submersible well only much smaller. Bleeders are right in beside the lines to the injectors on the pump one for each line. Those were an engine with little expense spared with the brass nuts on the injector line and such a very well made and elaborate engine. Poured rods for the bearings with shims if never had the pan off and blocks if it has probably. get back to me if you need information for it. We still have the books for it. A parts book and the operators manual I believe it is. Pull that back cover off the roller frame and loosen the 2 nuts then turn the big nut to adjust the tracks on it. Do you have a button fitting for the greasing of the rollers and idlers? It takes afair amount of grease to greaswe the track with a regular gun probably a couple tubes per side on it. and of course the air filter is an old oil bath on it for both engines.

Thanks for info. Kinda funny, yesterday was gonna unload it. Tryed pulling it off. So today I had a tarp over it with a tiger torch under it. Pulled them 2 square plates off at the rear. Checked and full of ice. So tonight I drained both sides. Got a couple gallons of water out from the brake compartments. Checked final drives and no water. Last week I drained and mopped up the water out of clutch compartment. Had a gallon in there. Changed the pup engine oil. Had water. Seams where ever I check it has water. But anyhow I cleaned the points and started the pup engine. Runs pretty good. And got the diesel engine started. So at least I know the engines run. The clutch is stuck in disengage position. I dont know if steering clutches are stuck or not. Just dragged it off trailer tonight in the dark. Wanted it off since I d sad pent time thawing it out. Now got to get it in the shop and probably pull the trans cover to the check on clutch. Sure wonder how all that water got in this thing. I sure would like some manuals for it if u had. And yes I put oil in the injection pump. U could e mail me.
