Hi I have question for my machine does the drive belt turn even when you are starting it. It's a1977 610 with a wisconsin engine. The machine seems to be in good shape but the engine has no cooling shrouds, and I was wondering if I need a cooling fan in the winter. Thanks

(quoted from post at 03:54:32 11/13/23) You need shrouds for proper cooling
anytime!
a I thought so,I bought a set of shrouds its just a pain to get the
Fly wheel off. Thanks

Yes, the belt will always be turning. It turns the jack shaft
which in turn powers the drive clutches and alternator(if
your Wisconsin engine doesnt have an alternator inside
the flywheel).

Being an air cooled engine the flywheel draws in air to
blow over the engine through the shrouding.

I thought so just wanted to make sure that the engine wasn't mounted to far back. Thanks
