I rebuilt the steering cylinders on this tractor. Made sure steering pump had fluid started engine and turned steering wheel a little a few times. shut off engine
and added oil to pump. did this several times until pump did not need any more oil. Drove tractor down the road made three or four turns everything worked fine. I
started over a curb both wheels on the base of the curb, Over the curb with the entire tractor and I have no steering. I raise wheels off the ground and I can
turn the wheels by hand. that is how I got the tractor back home. Anybody have any ideas what went wrong. Being able to turn the wheels when they are off the
ground by hand with engine running or engine off sounds like something isn't right.

It would be my guess that the oil is bypassing in one of the cylinders, it could be a seal let go or a rod snapped, I suggest you undo the rod ends and see if you can move the rod in and out, you might be able to find which cylinder to open.

AJ, You were right on. I had a Hydraulic shop make a new rod for one of the cylinders. when the lathe operator cut the threads for the end that holds the piston the rod diameter was too small. the piston came off the rod. So when I pulled the rod I got the rod out of the cylinder. I wish I had the common sense to do that when I first lost steering. Thanks Again
