Ford 555A spindle pin removal help

Hi all,

I've finally gotten around to replacing the spindle pins, bushings, and thrust bearings on this machine. The right side went well but the left side is giving me grief. The spindle pin won't come out. The bushings are completely gone and it's stuck in the section circled in red. I've gotten it to move maybe 1/16" to 1/8" using a hammer drill as well as just pounding on it but that's it. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to get this pin out? My thought was to cool it using an inverted can of compressed air as well as heating the frame to see if I can create enough clearance to work the pin out. I'll take any and all suggestions.

Thanks!

I use a piece of 1 round barstock about a foot in length welded to a suitable handle of the same round stock. I make the handle about
30-36 in length. Use plenty of heat and wallop that homebuilt driver with a sledge hammer. Hope that the person holding the driver
handle trusts your aim. A steady hand there is helpful. Be sure to wear eye protection.

Call a rental place and rent a Caldo torch, with 1/4 inch fuel rods. One 24 inch rod will do that job. The torch needs an oxygen tank and a 12v battery to light the rod. Since there is no place for the molten to go when attacking from the top, you usually cant go the full length of the pin before the rod is gone.

When you see molten metal running out of the retaining bolt hole, that is deep enough. Let it cool for an hour and tap the pin out with a 2 lb. hammer.
The preceding is of course after you cut the top and bottom of the king pin and remove the spindle.
