A friend of mine gave me what he thought is a Case 580D backhoe unit. How do I tell what it is by looking? I find no data plate on it. It was modified to rum stationary on a boat dock for barge work. Boom cylinders missing, but I found one used one.

Still need another boom cylinder if I'm going to do anything with it. Seems the boom cylinders are common to a few different models.
I have an old 3/4 ton GMC truck that will not be put back on the road.

Just for the heck of it-Maybe?:

All the heavy H beams steel and anything that is not part of the original backhoe unit will be gone. I have a heavier rear end that I plan on putting under the truck mounting it solid and shortening the frame to place the backhoe attach point right over the axle. If I build this, it will never leave my property. No over the road trip unless trailered.

Outriggers too?
For comparison, I custom mounted this hoe that's not much bigger than yours to a 4-5 ton crawler & even with a 700 lb. front counterweight I don't feel safe unless I toss another few hundred pounds in the bucket.

Yes, original stabilizers will stay on the backhoe. All the steel structure that was added to the unit will be removed. Probably use that steel to build weight for the front. It's an experiment. It's what I do for fun since retirement.
