can someone tell me if the D and C models has the same brake system. i cant find the d system on u tube but did find a c model. thanks

The D with a turbo had a different system than the D without, the C and the D without the turbo the brake system looks the same but the drum part numbers differ, the C and D none turbo has durm and disc hydraulic brakes, the turbo D has disc only hydraulic brakes, go to the online parts site at the link below and you can compare the parts.

got both sides removed Friday now got to clean it up and replace both bands plus the left side has a bad leak on the thing on the case so ill need another or rebuild it. at least the wheels turns freely now. thanks

There is an oil seal in the bearing carrier that can be replaced while the brake is stripped down, if yours has a diff lock there are two seals on that side, one in the carrier and one inside the hollow shaft on the right if I remember correctly, grab hold of the output shaft from the diff and check it for up/down play, if it's got play take a shim out from behind the bearing carrier.
Good luck

AJ Covered it well.
I will note though the Basic 580C and 580D Non Turbo models Shared the same
Brakes with one exception, C models used DOT3 brake fluid
And the D models used Dextron ATF.

It's hard to find the correct master cyl and brake cyl. on the
Internet or aftermarket suppliers.
Most all are DOT 3 type so you can't use ATF because of the seals.

When ordering ask if ATF compatible or you will need to change to DOT3.
