Is this a machine you just got?

Pull the lever to disengage the steering clutch on the side you want to turn towards, then use the brake for that same side to slow/stop the track as needed to make the turn. When pushing and making a turn, less brake is generally needed.

In your description of turning left, you say you pull the left lever and when you step on the brake it acts like it is in neutral and won't move. Are you saying that track stops and won't move, or the crawler stops and won't move? If just the left track stops when the lever is pulled, and brake applied hard that is what should happen. If you pull the left lever and apply the left brake and the other track stops as well, you have problems. If you are lucky the right steering clutch is way out of adjustment, otherwise you may be looking at a steering clutch rebuild on at least the right side. Less likely there could be something has failed in the drive train related to the right side.

when i pull left lever back and press the left brake it stops both tracks like it's not even in gear but i have notice when i just hit the brake for right side it turns with out the right lever pulled back the left with bake pushed in bogs loader down and not turn the right dosen't bog loader down but when i pull left lever back and press left brake its not ding anything thanks

Right side steering clutch or something in the drive on the right side has a problem.

The left side sounds like it is working properly, however it is not going to turn to the left without the right side driving to push it to the left.

Jim is right when you TRY your left turn the right side quits pulling so you do not turn whic means
you right side steering clutch is slipping. there is Brake adjustment but as far as I know clutches
are not adjustable more than making sure the lever is always forward

also could be problems in right side final drive--drain some oil from it and look for metal particles

There should be a plug under each final drive /steering clutch. Remove and feel for a plug of junk in there or poke a hole up through the crude so it can drain. When done draining check for a wall of dirt grease in general in around the plug hole. Take heavy wire and work it around the hole till I got all the junk I could reasonably out then with cover on top of it pour about a half gallon of diesel fuel in there and run it some. Drain again and repeat. That cavity is supposed to be open with no oil or grease in there. IF there is there is probably a seal leaking some. IF it is not leaking excessively I would just run it and drain out each year however often it needs it. There is one of these plugs under each side. This plug will be right under the brake band if I remember right.

hey thanks i,ve got the whole plate off of the right side under where your talking about i felt around in there best i could there,s rust in there.I noticed the drain plug was missing so it could be dampness got in there i,ve run it a little and noticed even with out touching the right stick i can push in the right brake and it turns right but when i do the left brake like that it try,s to choke engine out so i guess the right clutch is stuck and not engaging i guess thanks i forgot there was no oil or water in it it,s all clean except for some rust thanks

If there is just rust in there I would with some diesel fuel in there run it around as much as I could. The more the better and tap on the brake or look and see if you can see the clutch disengage or not. IT might be stuck such it will not pull for the track to turn. IF you have a fairly long field drive across it doing no steering and see if it goes straight or slowly meanders to one side. If it veers then steer to correct travel. as driving work the steering clutch lever and clutch as well as the brake pedal to see if it has any change also look at your brake lining to see if it has been stripped off or is still intact. I'm suspecting a lining either missing or stuck parts. Drive across field as much as you can back and forth or around the perimeter. You can steer by backing up and turn the opposite way to turn to the right then go ahead again some and then repeat. I've had to do this in the past to get oil worked off from lining or clutch from setting between uses.
