Hi, Had a cab heater hose split from rubbing on frame. Living near San Jose, CA the cab heater has not been used in the 16 years we've had it. (Wiring and heat exchanger rotted and looks scary) I'm thinking of shutting down the input hose using largish butterfly screw valve above the outlet port where in exits engine. This should deal with the leak. Any drawbacks come to mind or issues that may come up in the cooling system? Thanks for your thoughts.

Return hose must be shutoff or plugged as well. There should be no issues with shutting/plugging it off as the heaters were added on options.
