vac rock shaft

I have the VAC in the garage giving it a spruce up over winter as Case will be the featured tractor at the Platte Co steam and tractor show this summer (MO). I have a grease zerk (hey a word the computer doesn't know how to spell) on each side of the rock shaft. I now notice on the right side (facing forward) there is another hole about 2 or 3 down from the zerk on that side. Is there supposed to be another zerk there, or is it a plug of some kind? Just wondering. Thanks all.

I had a 1953 VAC. It had 4 zerks on the rock shaft, 2 in the center, one above the other, and one on each end. The shaft is surpported in 4 places in the housing so the zerks. Don't over grease as the grease that doesn't end up in the torque tube will get hard and plug up the vent/leak-off line.

I have the same 4 across, just wondering if the hole about 4 below the right zerk is supposed to have a zerk, or it could be some kind of plug , painted over too many
times to tell, but it is about the right size for a zerk

My early VAC has four zerks across the back. The only other 1/4 inch NPT holes I see are on the center/right front where the drain is. When I got it, the drain was in the upper hole. I put it in the lower hole.

There should be a square recessed pipe plug in it. If there is very much grease or paint on it, it may just look like a hole. I looked at several of mine and all had the plug installed to the point it was flush with the housing. Lee

That makes sense to me from what I can see. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't missing a zerk and I should be greasing it. THanks
