I have a old road grader that has some cracks in the head and block runs but smokes like a chimney any help would be appreciated thank you in advance.

Well, they used the first generation (1953) BD-230 in the WD45 tractor. The second generation (1960) would have been in the model A-2 Gleaner combine. I've never seen an A-2 with one, but I know that's what they had...very few were built diesel powered.

the A-2 motor has a RoosaMaster injection pump on it. I have a complete power unit off an A-2 D in my storage shed of motors, earmarked for a
wd45d project.

Cracks in a prechamber design head is not unusual. Unless they
go to the valve seat, or leak under pressure test, they are probably
harmless.

And cracks between sleeves at the top of the block is also
common. The head gasket seals it. But if there are cracks down
at the bottom of the block (in the area of the o-rings), the block is
toast.

Is there any way you would like to part with that motor or any motor for that matter You can contact me here or my phone number is 661 860 7509
