Hello, I know every machine has good and bad points, but have no experience with Allis, and came across a seemingly decent 190 xt and was wondering what good and bad points about these tractors are?Around 3500hrs.factorycab I think,Thank you for all your opinions.

Check the transmission in all gear both going up and down hill. TheXT190 is known for jumping out of gear

5 bottom plow,baler duty,small disc,small
field finisher,manure duty,most anything
around a farm. Yes 3500 on hourmeter. It's
about an hour from home, and have only so
far looked at couple pics.So don't know if
hours are correct. Pics look decent but
need to go look at it

if going with SMALL disc and field cultivator think about just a 4 bottom plow. i assume not many acres and more able to handle in TOUGH conditions!! check to make sure it is a newer model with 3 1/4 inch rear axles. series III would be an added plus.

A 190XT diesel was a 5 bottom tractor for sure back in the day. However, it needs good rear tires full of fluid and 400 lbs of front end weights for a 5 bottom plow. So, unless you're farming a whole bunch of acres, maybe settle for a 4 bottom plow. Don't worry about the rear axle size. The original was 2 3/4" and the later was 3 1/4". It only indicates what age the tractor might be. There was NEVER a problem with the axles. They just chose to make an improvement.

Only complaint I ever had with mine, was the power steering.

Roading it was a dangerous affair. The steering didn't respond well. Wasn't "tight". It took multiple revolutions of the steering wheel to keep it in a straight line. 2 revs one way.......2 revs the opposite way. They have a mind of their own, and would veer in any direction at higher speeds. Consequently, the only way to travel with either one, was on the dirt roads that have little traffic, and at lower speeds.

I had this problem with both of the 190xt's I own. Never got around to fixing it, because the tractors were mostly used for loading, and feeding hay, in one location. I only had to road them a couple of times a year. At low speed, around the dry lot, it wasn't a real issue.

I've been in the tractor repair business nearly 50 years now, and never heard of one person having TWO 190XT's that drove poorly down the road, and not get them fixed !! So, it sounds like the power steering cylinder just needed a seal kit when you turn the steering wheel multiple times with not much happening. And secondly it also sounds like the front wheels needed a tape measure used to set the toe-in. Any 190 XT drives just as good as any other tractor if it is right. There. You're fixed !!

You should consider yourself blessed, that you've lived long enough to see it.

Any day above ground is a good day.
