D19 Starter

the D19 we're working on has no starter. I mean the starter is literally not there. Should we look for a used one or by even asking the question is everyone now laughing?!?! I see where we can buy refurbished / new ones online. I'd love to find one that's probably no good and take it to our local rebuilder. he does great work.
If you think we should look for a used one, are there some salvage yards you'd recommend?

Sounds like a GREAT idea so long as you can find a decent used starter at a fair price.

Trouble is many used parts suppliers want a heck of a high price for a used part that may not be usable as is, or not even a good candidate for rebuilding.

(quoted from post at 08:41:26 01/14/23) I think I have a good starter here left over from a gas tractor I switched over to a 301 Diesel. I will look when I go to the shop
today. AL

Hey there Al,
Just checking in to see if you were able to find a starter at your shop?
