Allis chalmers wd

I need to replace the seals in my wd engine. Do I need to completely rebuild the engine or can I just replace the seals? I know the crankcase seals needs replacing. Can that be done with the engine still in the tractor?

Front crank seal can be done in chassis. Rear seal needs the engine pulled and flywheel removed. Make sure all of your pan bolts are tight first.

Front crank seal can be done in chassis. Rear seal needs the engine pulled and flywheel removed. Make sure all of your pan bolts are tight first. The WD block has a full length cover on the right side that covers the push rods/lifters. It can be replaced in chassis and is probably leaking. Your term "crankcase" is kind of vague.

Removing the engine isn't all that difficult. The worst part I think is disconnecting the U joint in the steering shaft to make room for the engine to move forward. As the tractor has a separate frame you don't have to worry about supporting the front and rear of the tractor with the engine out.

You can have the engine out in a couple hours max. 2 bolts for the radiator, 2 under the front cover, 4 on the bellhousing, and split the steering shaft to slide the back half up out of the way.
