Farmall M to a certain year break in mid 1950 all used a small journal crankshaft.
SM-450 used the large journal crankshaft.
Both cranks will interchange with either the M thru 450, just use the bearings for the crank you use.
When they repair a crank by welding it back up to return the journal to STD, they grind them down past the hardend surface and rebuild it back up. Does not matter how much is worn off, they rebuild to back to spec in that process.
I would belive thats the more expensive route to repair but a stock STD/STD crankshaft would probably show wear enough to warrant a .010/.010 clean up grind.
