I guess a lot of us live for the moment, and spend every cent we make (if you believe what you hear on the news). Personally, I realized we were not rich when I was a kid, but I milked, hayed, shoveled a lot of... , and had a trap line (that was before Green Peace, Grrr...). But even though I had to earn it, I spent it too. I was old before I valued land, but I think I always valued durable things that last. So I always bought quality things and still have most of it today.
I think that young fellow will do ok. He'll probably find a girlfriend, trade his fancy car in on a truck, get a loan for a house (and hopefully some land) with help from his Dad, and by the time he's 30 we'll think he's doing everything right.
I've noticed that most folks have things figured out by the time they're 30.
And that's totally true about things costing MUCH more here in Canada! And we get paid less too!!! I've live here all my life (NS mostly, and now BC) and I still think America is the "Land of Milk and Honey". I hope Americans pause every now and then and appreciate how lucky they are. We're pretty lucky here in Canada too, but not compared to the USA.
