Who said anything about making a living farming 230 acres of grain? It wont but it sure helps out when things go right.Lots of us on here are part time farmers. We farm with older smaller machinery.
When someone comes on here bashing what you use to haul your grain with, says absolutely no one wants to work on these old trucks when lots do,says that parts are unavailable for anything older than 1985 when they are, then someone needs to give another point of view.
The question is do you spend $18-20,000 for a semi on 230 acres that will be used 500 miles per year or do you spend $3000 for 2 old 2 ton trucks that will be used 1500 miles per year?I do alot of my own work on my trucks and a friend thats a great mechanic does the rest.
By the way my combines unloading auger wont even reach over a hopper bottom to unload in.
