A 2000 F-350? Doesn't that have a 6 speed? Anyhow, I have a 2001 (6 speed), it is a hydraulic activated clutch, my main cylinder went when the truck had about 30 or 40k on it. That may be your problem. I would recommend going to the "Powerstroke Only" bulletin board at: www.freeautoadvice.com Lots of knowledgeable guys there (in addition to those that just want to turn their 7.3s into hot rods).
