Ranger John, Buying a vehicle USED TO BE a sporting competition, BEFORE the advent and widespread use of the internet. In the late 80's and mid-90s my wife and I bought 3 Subaru's and we had two of the local dealers in a virtual bidding war over who could sell us a car at the lowest price. All the internet has done is facilitated price fixing. Probably better for your average buyer who was afraid to apply preasure to get a better deal, but for aggresive buyers, the internet has been a real road block. Now days, the manufacturers and the dealers and the customers are all looking at the same prices on the internet - so it is virtually impossible to get dealers to move off of any particular mark they have set. The only thing you can be sure of is that the price they have set is lucrative for them - even if it is at or slightly above the "dealer's cost", with all the bonuses and incentives they get from the manufactures for volume of sale compared to the dealership down the road, etc.
