Out of nine children, one brother and one sister lost their homes completely and two other homes are unlivable--one in the New Orleans area and the other in Bay St. Louis. We are blessed though, in that no family members perished in either Louisiana or Mississippi. Having seen the Waveland-Bay St. Louis-Pass Christian areas first hand, I can report that the destruction is beyond description. We also did some work in the Gautier-Pascagoula areas and even that far east from the eye's landfall, any homes near the beach or local bodies of water have been destroyed. This one packed less winds than Camille but the storm surge was much higher and covered the entire Miss coast and parts of Alabama too.
