Hey Guys, I know this one is coming from clear out in left field, but here's what I'm a gonna do. Wheat crop came off this field last month. Ground, of course, was depleted of moisture and fairly hard due to the dry conditions out in this country. I spread starter fertilizer and 9 days ago, I smacked it with the disk to knock down the weeds and loosen it up. THEN, IT WAS DRY; NO POINT IN PLANTING IT THIS WAY! And, I thought this season is over as far as planting the silly alfalfa. Fast forward to yesterday and here come the rains. We've got 1/2" inch so far and looks to be an inch by Monday. Just as soon as it dries out enough to get in the field, I'm going to plant this thing without any additiional tillage, just plant in there the way it is, then run the roller over it (teeth up) to insure seed contact. I know the weeds are gonna absolutely boil up out of this field after this rain, but to heck with 'em. I'll just use 'em fer my "pre-established" cover crop. :>) I don't care about the weeds now, cause I'm 5 to 6 weeks from frost time; if I can just get that alfalfa to take and establish itself, weed problem will be gone next spring due to the alfalfa. Whadda think? :>) Allan
