Given that the coolant should never come in contact with either the combustion, exhaust or lubrication, why would a diesel have different coolant additive needs than a gasoline engine? What is cylinder liner cavitation pitting? It sounds like it is caused by movement of the cylider against the block. Does coolant somehow come in contact with the liner? If it did wouldn't it also contaminate the crank case?
