I really think the 8.1 will outperform the 7.4. Fuel consumption is about the same. Gasoline is anywhere from 20 to 30 cents a gallon less than diesel, plus lower maintenance costs on the gasser. You change the oil and filter, and grease the front suspension and steering. That's it. I should also mention that the initial cost of a diesel will add about $4,000 to the sticker.
