This was discussed about 3 months ago. See the thread for details. I've discovered that taking US and state highways is nearly as quick as interstates when hauling equipment or RVing. OTR drivers are different, they most often cannot use these highways unless enroute to the final destination. Individual states are responsible for interstate upkeep, some like Indiana are really nuts. INDOT proposes to use ALL federal highways monies received for the next 10 years to build a new section of I69 from Indianapolis to Evansville and ignore/neglect all other interstates and US highways in the state. Perhaps this is one reason for the toll-interstate nonsense.
