Wouldn't be the first time mag rotation is opposite to the impulse that's fitted. I am always surprised that these things are not checked out for spark/rotation etc before fitting. They are much easier to sort out on the lounge floor. As said lower down, clean the points very carefully and set the gap to specification. Presumably you have not fitted any resistor type components in the HT side. Get back to us how you get on and we'll try harder if we know exactly what's been checked, and it's still no go.
