My A has just started having the above described problem. I pulled it out to spray some dirt off and it started first crank, like normal. I drove to the hose and shut it down. Sprayed it off, did not directly hit mag (WICO X or XB, has ground post) but it got wet nonetheless. Now it is hard to start but when it does start it runs well for 5 minutes and the starts missing badly (black smoke) and dies in 1-2 minutes. It seemed like a spark problem so it now has new wires and plugs but same situation. It appears to be in the mag (bad coil?) so if somebody more knowledgeable than me in magnetos could help me I would really appreciate it. Happy father"s day and Thank You.
