An H sold at auction recently. Non-running, engine free, tires held air and had lots of tread, but had bad spots (where they sat forever flat). Paint looked to have been re-done at some point and then shedded, tin looked good, and it sold with a mounted sickle mower that went with it that didn:t look right for the tractor (it was cobbled up and looked home made looking at the axle mounts). It brought $800.
$1200 for your friends, sounds kind of high to me. I have seen numerous runners sell for less. With a frozen engine, buyers that are even willing to fix it, aren't going to be interested in it at much over parts or scrap price. Not sure what the tires are worth. That depends on what ones definition of good is. 10 years old, 3/4 tread, no weather check might be good in ones mind. 50 year old, 1/2 tread, badly weather checked, and holds air for a day and a half might be good in someone else's mind. But tire condition IS a big factor in value.

It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer.
