Talking with a neighbor about tires. Chaps me off when I park a tractor for the winter and see that a tire is low after a couple of months. About the time I air it up it goes flat faster. Can't win for losing.
She says, "that's why I air up the tires on the hay wagons and then block them up so they don't go flat."
So tell me - does jacking the weight up off of a tire make it hold air longer? I guess if something is very heavy it could squeeze the tire more, but then that would mean that if I air up a tire and then put it on the tractor the tire pressure will increase when I put the tractor weight on there. We know THAT'S not right.
Anyone have proof? Does a jacked up tire lose air more slowly than one of the same PSI sitting on the ground?
