The fast-heat glow plugs made to upgrade the older 190 Mercedes cars are a great improvement for the IH B275s and B414s. Originally the Mercedes diesel cars and IH British tractors used the same slow-heat, 1 volt glow plugs. No timer or controller and often took 30 seconds or more to even start to get hot. The new Bosch plugs are 12 volt fast-heat and burn-out proof (self-limiting). They screw right into the BD144 and BD154 engine, i.e. a direct bolt-in replacement. You just have to wire them in parallel 12 volts. The old original 1 volt plugs were hooked in series.
