That's what I was thinking. Most of my experience with old Detroits was in the rear engine stage coach. They had an air piston a bit bigger than your thumb to activate the shut down. The air piston was electrically controlled, needed power to release air & let engine start & run. Elec power held air valve closed. Cutting elec power allowed air valve to open extending piston to activate shut down. Same part as the fast idle limiter. Willie
