If we don't grow droughty when it gets warm it will be a benefit. In basic soil science we discussed the difference between fertile and productive soils. The professor explained a lot of fertile soils are not productive because they are dessert with no rain or so far north there isn't enough season to grow much of anything. Global warming will increase heat and water vapor in the atmosphere providing a buffering effect that will check the tendency for the earth to warm above tolerable limits. My criticism of the global warming model is I don't think they have accounted for the effects of increasing moisture and the additional carbon dioxide consumed by increasing plant life resulting from the additional moisture and heat. I also think the statistical model they use to extrapolate projected climatic conditions is flawed as it doesn't adequately consider cyclic and normal variations on our climate. I am not a scientist, I have a bachelor's degree in agriculture, but scientists and engineers that I respect with a proven track record in getting things done that have required dealing with multiple complex models have expressed these doubts on global warming. Please also note there is a pretty good chance Al Gore is a distant cousin, I'm speaking out against kin here.
