Greetings! This is a rather long message, but bear with me. I bought an International 545 diesel a few months ago and I am having problems trying to start it in cold weather (-15 celcius as we Canadians like to measure temperature). First, I don't know how to find this model of tractor (is this an International Harvestor?) in order to get a service manual for it. I found a plug on the end of a cord. I plugged it in and waited for a warm sunny day (only -7c). The tractor will turn over, but that's about it. I understand that diesels should have a glow plug and that you need to begin with this. Is this associated with the ignition key or is there another feature? There is also an ether cannister button, but I think its empty...it seems to work (it makes a sound when I press the trigger, but doesn't seem to help any). I haven't cranked the engine hard as I don't want to damage the starter...I figure that I'm doing something wrong. Any help at all is welcome. Cheers and Merry Christmas!
