I have a neighbor that is working on a MD - magneto ignition - starter was missing, belted to other tractor. MD would start on gas and then gradually it would slow down to a stop - he has had the manifold off and checked the valves -he has had the carb apart several times -he has good fuel flow from the tank- I have NO experience with a MD specifically the carb -which has a choke butterfly, but no throttle since it runs at a fixed speed on gas? Some guys mentioned timing , or valves open in manifold-- what do you think? Ken
