Well, just getting in from working on "OLD RED". Putting the alternator on was the most time consuming part. Not sure if I was successful or not. The tractor turns over beautifully now, even seems like it sounds better. However, I noticed the ammeter just barely shows charge when I pull out (turn on) the kill switch. When the tractor runs it shows charge. When it's off it shows zero. I didnt have time to hook up the lights yet. Nothing shows discharge. I thought it would show discharge when I turn the kill switch on before I start it, then show charge when it's running. I wired it to Bob M's diagram of the M. Only difference is I didn't get a resister, just a 12 volt coil. For the warning light I used a regular indicator light, which is on from the time I pull out the kill switch to the time I push it in. Would that have anything to do with the ammeter reading, or is it something else? Does it sound like I have a problem at all? I appreciate anyone's response. Thanks in advance.
