First I want to thank the people who responded to my priming a diesel question.
I made sure there was fuel in both fuel filters, and it ran down to the injector.
I cracked the injector lines, then decided to crank the motor over, instead of pumping on the injector.
While cranking, I watched the oil pressure gauge. The gauge pressure never came up.
For those of you who didn't read my other listing, this tractor was in a fire, so the motor (1466 motor) was rebuilt. I rewired the tractor, with a wiring harness kit, and re painted the tractor.
My question is, what does it take, or what should have been done with the gerator oil pump, as far as if it needed priming befor installing in motor, or what.
I'm pretty good with a wrench, and have done alot of overhauls, just not diesels. I had a very good book on the rebuild. It was the IHC service manual for 3 and 400 series diesel engines.
I'm nervous about cranking the motor over with no oil pressure and having it start.
Before you ask, yes there is oil in the crankcase.
Just checked the book, and am wondering if the pressure regulator may be bad, possible melting from the fire?
