Well, I don't know if this is right for you or not, but this is how I changed my 240 over to 12 volt, and seems to be working ok. Some of the parts like the Ford Automotive coil and the 8n key switch were used because I had the stuff in boxes laying around. I used a ballast resistor for the lights because I had one I don't need and didn't have 12 volts bulbs yet.
