I will add to delberts description. Placing the wire through the holes so that if a bolt head or nut were to turn (in the loosening direction) thet the wire will be under increased tension. This prevents backing off of the tightness, at least until the wire breaks. Safety wire needs to be inconel, or other corrosion resistant material, or it just rust away. JimN
