I agree with the others--- a 140 should handle a 72" woods mower with no problem. For over 10 years my brother and I mowed the township cemetaries and 2 churchyards (3-plus acres each) with a Farmall A with a U? 306 mower mounted on it. The mower mounting was all homemade and blackmith rough, but it worked great! Whoever mounted the mower on it used the big cast pulley that mounted on the regular 540 PTO shaft and the thing mowed like a gang mower--- very even. I always suspected that it was due to the blades turning faster due to that huge pulley. One thing you had to watch in close quarters when pushing in the clutch was its tendency to move you into a fence or other obstruction if you didn't bump the transmission into neutral--- I hate to argue with Rusty, but this particular animal could've used an overrunning clutch. We still use the thing now some 30 years later. I'll post some pics of it after our tractor show is over tomorrow.
