Thanks to those of you on YT that gave me suggestions on how to get my SMD to start on the gas side. The tractor is now purring like a kitten. This episode started when I decided to degrease a good running tractor. Well, it would not start after that. To make a long story short, we put on new plugs, points, distributor cap, adjusted the valve flapper in the intake manifold and replaced one faulty plug wire. Overhauled the carb. Previous owner switched the tractor from mag. to distributor. Found out that when the #1 piston is at TDC, rotor was pointing at the # 4 plug wire. Made ajuustments for that. Still would not start. This tractor is a 12 volt + ground. Switched the coil wires around to + to distributor. She fired right up. Once again, thanks to all that contributed. Marv
