check your fuse when they go out. It might be red hot, with melted solder, and when it cools the lights will work again. Even with a new switch ours did that until i cleaned up the grounds, and broke down and rewired the tractor.
karl f p.s. i'm for relays and redundant ground wires on tractor lights. requires some custom wiring :)
