A while back I was going to move my 706 in the shed, wanting to get ready to run my grain vac. I started the engine, and the oil light was on, I knew I had no hydraulic pressure, as I could hear the pump whine and the P/S was not working. As I waited for the hydraulics to start working, the engine started to groan, and squeak. I shut it off expecting the engine to be locked. I checked the oil and it was up but milky. Ouch! I had no idea the oil pressure in the engine was also low or 0 since the oil light burns for both engine oil and hydraulic oil. I am assuming I have extensive engine damage, this is a gas engine.
I am wondering which diesel engine could be swapped into my 706 (Dad bought new in 63) as I am to the point of not wanting much for gas engined tractors on my farm. I use the 706 for the grain vac, drill, corn planter test plots, and fertilizer spreader.
Just some thoughts running through my mind, when the ground is covered with 9 inches of snow, and it is currently snowing more.
