A friend of mine likes my SC so much he wants one. I went to an auction today that had a SC, an IH FH mower in good shape, a FH converted post hole digger very good shape, FH converted carry all, and a FH Spray rig, and what I was there for was an IH fast hitch to three point conversion.
The guy that wanted the SC backed out and said don't bid. It had a motor out of a 230 in it and very good tires. The tractor started good and ran very well. A guy came up to me before the tractor sold and asked me if I was going to bid. I told him no the buyer backed out. He asked what it would bring. I told him between 1400 and 1500. The guy I talked to bought it for 1450. I took only 180 dollars with me to the sale. The first implement sold was the mower. It brought 140 dollars, and like I said it was in very good shape, I wish I had taken more money I would liked to have had the mower. Then the piece I wanted was up for sale the FH to 3 point converter. I had to pay a LOT more than I wanted to, I know it was my fault. I got it for 170.00 but that was my last bid I was going to make. I was going to stop at 150 and I gave it one more bid.
The post hole digger like I said was a very good shape, but it had a piece for it attached to the SC. It was a top link hook up on the belt pulley cover. The digger was converted to FH but the top link piece was there to help put down pressure. The FH converted post hole digger sold for 550 but not to the guy with the tractor. The guy with the tractor had a nice top link anchor point but no arms. He didn't bid on the FH to 3 point converter, or the post hole digger.
Next was the spray rig it sold for 100 and the FH converted carryall went for 10.00 The only good thing about the carryall was the main part of the frame with the points.
Just my luck I waited all day for the one item I wanted. I might have payed too much but it is the only one I have ever seen at a auction so I am happy. Ron

Today's Featured Article - An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership,
