Starting restoration on a '39 A. I ordered a set of decals from this website and they just don't seem to fit. The upper part of the decal on the hood goes all the way to the rounded edge that goes to the top of the hood. I can barely see the "M" on the old lettering and it is a good 30% smaller. What gives?
Also, the decal for the side of the hood has "McCormack-Deering" above the Farmall. I've noticed on posted pictures that most decals do not have the Deering part on the decal. Which is correct? Where can I find pictures of EXACTLY what these looked like from the factory?
Next, did early 39 A's have a brushguard under the foot pedals? What about a foot rest?
Another question. This tractor was either seriously abused or was in an accident that broke the spokes in the right front wheel (they are welded). It also broke the engine block on the right side where the front bolts to the block. The block has been welded. My brother thinks the weld will not hold and some sort of brace from the front bolts back to the bolts to the torque tube needs to be fashioned for better support.
Otherwise it's in good shape for it's age (hand crank-no starter or PTO)
