Gentlemen, I have a SMTA with, I am quite certain, an original IH live hydraulic pump. I am installing a Northern Tool # 2040 (Prince) flow control valve for a power steering motor. The instruction sheet says that there MUST be a relief on the INLET side of that flow control valve. The valve is rated to 3000 psi. Is the IH live pump rated in excess of 3000 psi?
I have purchased a pressure relief valve #2044(Prince), but had planned on installing it downstream of the flow control valve before the the power steering motor. If I install a pressure relief upstream of the flow control valve as instructed and reduce the pressure to 1000 -1200 for the ps motor, the bypass pressure will also be reduced, correct?
Also, how can I tell if my live pump is indeed an IH pump? What kind of pressure does this pump put out if in good condition? I've not put a pressure gauge in line to check the pressure. How much pressure does a remote cylinder need to perform to it's max? Does that vary by cylinder?
