I have a 4230 Case-IH cab tractor I have had the clutch and pressure plate replaced and also the throwout bearing. The PTO input shaft and PTO driver shaft and gear replaced in the tranmission case. Now it shifts real hard. When you push the clutch in to shift the tractor seems to move just a little as you are putting the shift lever in gear and then the tractor will sit still there is no grinding just hard to get into the gear. The clutch pedal has been adjusted and seems to help a little. I think that the clutch throw out levers need adjusted, but that will require another split. The shop wants me to try it and see if it lossens up. They do not want to do another split. The first mechanic has since quit after working on this one tractor. Any suggestions from anyone will be appreciated. They suggested that I take it out and work it and slip the clutch some???? All opinoins and advice is greatly appreciated. And by the way the tractor shifted very well and easy before the work.
