I have used 80-90 gear oil in a pinch . Just don't use it for a long time . Anything that's called oil will work . I agree with Old about that . The oil gets sucked up into the main body mesh while the tractor is running and as it gets full of dirt it flows back down into the pan washing the dirt with it . That's why thicker isn't better however so stay with the thinner oils unless in a pinch . The tranny fluid I don't know about since it'll take your paint off so I'd steer clear of that one too . But it should clean the mesh screen pretty well . One more point , Ya might not want to remove the pan immediately after shutting the tractor off , give the oil a chance to drain back .
