13 gallons is correct. Take the plug out of the back and drain it also. If you have a belt pully, you need to take the bolts out of the side and drain the water. Save about a quart to put in the hole in the top of the belt pully. Most people say to put a couple gallons of Kerosene in the trans and run it up and down the drive way a couple of times, then drain and fill with fresh oil. I got mine at tractor supply, about $35 for 5 gallons. Save the Kero for the next time you need to burn a pile of brush.
